Marvel Comics created Captain America and first appeared in 1941.   Captain America’s real name is Steve Rogers.  He was a frail youth who enlisted in the Army but was rejected.  An Army general heard of his desire to enlist so he offered Rogers a chance to take part in an experiment involving a secret serum to help create Super-Soldiers.

Superheroes are one of the mainstays of the American culture.  Americans have always related to someone with super powers or that have some type of device or garment that makes them superheroes.

Superman was probably our first real superhero and he first appeared in the comics.  Soon the comics were making our superheroes and there became so many that some banded together to form a team like the Justice League of America.
